A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words

Well, where do I begin? Ahhh, I will start by telling you how we found out we were having baby Kirkland!

I was over at Monica’s house with her husband and cousin. Her cousin was in town for the last night and they wanted to go celebrate at Cowboys. I don’t do Cowboys but kind of felt like going out with them…BUT, I didn’t want to have a drink of anything until I knew I wasn’t pregnant. I was scheduled to start my cycle the next day. So, In crazy excitement, Monica said “I’ll go get you a pregnancy test!!!” So, that’s just what we did! On our way up to Walgreens, I was very quiet. Monica asked what was wrong with me as I was a little somber and not excited at all, I replied and said that “I just don’t want to get my hopes up, it’s the first month and doubt I’m pregnant, so why get excited for something that probably won’t happen?” So after buying the test, like a bat out of hell Monica pulls into the drive way with enough excitement for the both of us! We go into her bathroom. I had to pee in a cup then put the stick in because I didn’t want to miss! Lol. So the deed was done and I set the test on the counter. I left the bathroom and as soon as I got 10 steps away, Monica started screaming and crying! Lol..I said “its been 8 seconds! What the heck are you screaming for?” She said “the second line is appearing, YOUR PREGNANT!” I didn’t believe her AT ALL! I then looked at it and still didn’t believe her or the silly stick! Matt and Wade walk into the bathroom wondering what the heck was going on and Monica screamed “Lindsey’s pregnant!” I said “no I’m not. I can’t be. It’s the first month!” lol..I’m an idiot. After about an hour of Monica trying to convince me I’m pregnant and it’s for real, I finally believed her! LOL..

I had so many emotions and the only thing I wanted to do was tell Justin we were going to have a “floobies” (what the Kirkland’s call ‘babies’) lol  Ahhh! But he was at Discovery Church practicing with the band and I didn’t want to tell him over the phone or through text. So I decided to wait until he got home to break the news which would only be a few hours away… so I thought. I found out about 6 pm and started texting Justin around that time to see when he would be home. He said about 8:30. I said ok, that’s fine. It was so hard not to tell him!! Ahh! So I texted him again at about 8:00pm and asked him if he was on his way home. He said no, it will be a little bit longer. So, at this point, I was getting flustered but still didn’t want to tell him over the phone. So, I texted him again at 10pm. Still not home. He tells me he’s in a deep discussion with Rocky and will be pretty late (The Kirkland boy fashion: BEING LATE). At this point I’m over it!!!! I was on pins and needles for 6 whole hours! He rolls in at 12:30AM!!! He had no idea..poor husband. Since it was late I decided to draw him a picture to reveal my big surprise!! I wanted to draw it on something he would see when he walked in from the garage door off the kitchen. Right when you walk in the kitchen is our fridge. We have a little whiteboard on the fridge for making notes or reminders on. This was the perfect spot. I wielded my black dry-erase marker and went to town. When it was finished, it looked like this:

So he finally comes home. He runs straight past the fridge looking for me in the back bedroom. I yelled to him, “I’m in here”, hiding around the corner from the kitchen in our dining room. “Did you see my picture on the fridge?” I asked. “No, I was looking for you”, he said. As he walked back into the kitchen and glanced at my masterpiece , I walked around the corner smiling ear to ear. “What?!” he said. He couldn’t believe it! “Are you sure?” he said. “Can you believe it?!” I exclaimed. “Are you really sure?” he persisted. He must have asked me like 20 times! “Yes, honey, I’m really sure,” I assured him. With tears in our eyes, in sheer shock, I jumped up in his arms and we hugged each other so tightly there was no air to get in between. It was an awesome moment and we are SO SO SO HAPPY!!!! I can’t wait to share this next step of life with this man.

The little munchkin will be hanging out with us sometime around January 11th, 2010! Oh what a happy day it will be!!

UPDATE: We found out we’re having a baby boy on August 10th. Yeah!
