Ho Ho Ho

If you know my family, you know that our favorite time of year is Christmas!  So in the spirit of it almost being the holidays, I am playing Christmas music at my desk at work.  I know what your thinking, but I’m not crazy! I just LOVE it!   Now playing Christmas Time is Here by the Vince Guaraldi Trio on http://www.accuradio.com/holidays/inpage.php?channel=Channel8&sub=SubPrimary&ref=WMG

Christmas music reminds me of all the wonderful holidays I had with my family growing up. Some of my favorite memories are:

#1 The smell of crisp fresh air, cool breeze blowing throughout the house, with my Mom’s favorite holiday candle burning, waking  up to that was magical!

#2 My dad putting the lights on the house so we can have the most beautiful house on the block and get the nickname “The Griswalds” while my Mom, Paislee, and I dance and sing while decorating the inside of the house.   I always liked to be the one to put together the manger scene and the wooden Christmas tree count down. :)

#3 Eggnog and cookies.  I wish they had eggnog through out the year, why don’t they?

#4 Finding our Christmas tree was always the big day! This usually happened the day after Thanksgiving.  We always found it in the first few minutes but we liked to keep looking just to soak up the moment and spend a little longer together.  After that Dad puts the lights on the tree while Sammy (our cat) gets tangled in them or one year climbed up the tree and knocked it over. ha. After Dad gets the lights put on while the Chipmunks are playing, Paislee and I find our favorite ornaments to put on the tree. It was almost a race to find the best ones to put on there.

#5 My sister and I being old enough to know there wasn’t such a thing as St. Nick but my parents still insisting on putting the presents out in the middle of the night so they would just appear in the morning.  I remember Pais and I hanging over the balcony to the front room to see if we see them putting them out and we would always fall to sleep before they did.  I love her.

#6 Going to my Nanny’s house to see the rest of the family with the smell of a turkey in the oven with 1500 sides and 2500 desserts. lol.  Memories of  Uncle Terry opening half of his present before its his turn will never be forgotten!  I wish the family wasn’t scattered all over the world now so we can have those Christmas’ again..  I miss the Hilliards the most around the holidays.  BUT, They are always good to call or skype in so we always see them or talk to them on that day :)

#7 Watching my favorite Christmas movies: Meet Me in St. Louis, Christmas Vacation, The Grinch, and A Christmas Story (in that order :) )

#8 Christmas music that was played often was: The Chipmunks, Mariah Carey, Amy Grant, 98 Degrees (Paislee’s favorite), Point of Grace, Steven Curtis Chapman, and topping it off with the song “Santa Baby”, my personal favorite.

I could go on for days with my favorite moments and memories of our Christmas together..

It really is the most wonderful time of the year! I loved our Christmas’ growing up! I hope BabyK will like it as much as I did!   I will be sure to do all the same things that my family did so he can have as many memories as I have.   Knowing when it comes Christmas time, BabyK will be due 2 weeks from then! Crazy!  I love you BabyK.
